S
ince 1918, EFAA has been the community
safety net for families who have nowhere else to turn when
they can't meet their basic needs. By providing assistance
with food, rent, utility bills, minor medical expenses, transportation,
furniture, and case management services, EFAA's Basic Needs
Program offers people in our community a place to come when
hunger or homelessness threaten their families.
In 2002-03, 2,796 different families came to one of EFAA's offices
in Boulder, Lafayette or Broomfield for assistance. Using a combination
of volunteer and paid staff, EFAA takes the time to listen, to develop
a plan for financial stability and often provides assistance with
food or vouchers. We are pleased that 91% of clients who returned
follow up questionnaires said their needs were met by EFAA and 95%
said they were treated respectfully.
Since 2000-01, we have seen an approximate 40% increase in the
number of people coming to EFAA for assistance. Most significant areas of need
are high cost housing related items (rent and utilities) and food.
Working in cooperation with other human service organizations,
schools, the faith community and local police departments, EFAA
serves as the hub of a coordinated network of helpers throughout
the area.
I'm ready to help!
