Digital marketing agency Room 214 teamed up with EFAA to produce the Room 214+EFAA Creative Community Happy Hour at the Dairy Center for the Arts. The second-annual event raised a total of $4,500 for EFAA, enough to house a homeless family of three in short-term housing for up to 9 weeks, including all expenses like food, transportation for work, minor medical expenses, enrollment in the Children’s Program and case management to help with budgeting and planning for future financial stability.
In addition to raising valuable funds to help families, seniors and people with disabilities, this event brought together the bright, creative and compassionate people of Boulder to build an understanding of how, as a community, we can reduce poverty and eliminate family homelessness.
The Creative Community Happy Hour included live theatrical performance by Affinity Arts Consulting to bring to life the work EFAA does in the Boulder community and the impact it has on the lives of thousands. It is at this intersection of art and social justice that we are able to start a critical conversation and effect monumental change.
This event was only made possible by our generous sponsors like Sovrn, an online advertising technology who made it possible for EFAA to follow the event with a screening of The Hand that Feeds, a documentary about low-wage food service workers. Room 214 conceived of the event and worked hard to produce and market it. The Dairy Center for the Arts provided the space. Fresh Thyme provided delicious and healthy food. Boulder Beer, Hazels and Upstart Kombucha provided the beverages. James Osel Thorpe provided live music, and Affinity Arts Consulting provided live performance art. Many other supporters provided items for our prize drawing to raise money, including KBCO, who donated tickets to some of the summer’s best concerts.
