Honoring the Life of Terry Benjamin

in In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the recent passing of one of our community’s great leaders and visionaries. On January 21, 2021, Terry Benjamin passed away at his home surrounded by family. Terry was the Executive Director of EFAA for 33 years and was also a founding member of our Longmont sister agency, OUR Center, where he simultaneously served as Executive Director for 12 years.

Terry was a tireless advocate for families, seniors and individuals struggling to meet their basic needs. During his tenure, he built up EFAA’s Housing Program for families experiencing homelessness which now includes seven sites throughout the county with 56 single-family units.

Upon his retirement, the City of Boulder and Boulder County honored him by naming June 26, 2013 and June 28, 2013, respectively, Terry Benjamin Day. Both the city and the county recognized Terry for his exemplary service to the organization and to the community over his long career in human services. At the time, Terry was the longest serving Executive Director of a non-profit in Boulder County.

Terry’s life work and lasting impact was building EFAA to be an exceptional agency, beloved by our community. His efforts are deeply appreciated by the entire EFAA family, including the thousands of community members who came to EFAA to find support, encouragement and love.

EFAA will share more details in the coming months as memorial plans are finalized. In the meantime, please join us in sharing your photos, stories and memories with Terry’s family who has set up a memorial website to remember and honor his life – https://www.forevermissed.com/terry-benjamin/about.
