Food Bank Shift Lead
The afternoon Shift Lead is a hearty, energetic person, who will be on the go a lot in this physically demanding role. This role requires a lot of communication, stocking product and assisting participants. Leads will monitor safety protocols inside and outside, where participants are waiting and work closely with the Intake volunteer and food bank staff. The lead will orient new volunteers, make sure each volunteer is assigned and certain of their task, and following safety protocols.
-Minimum Age – 18
-Ability and willingness to be physically active and able to do moderate to heavy lifting. Interest in service to people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Patience, compassion and excellent customer service skills. Spanish language skills are an asset.
-Ability and willingness to serve in a leadership role. Leadership and teamwork experience required.
Shifts: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:30 – 2:15 pm and 2:15 – 5:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday: 11:30 – 2:15 pm, 2:15 – 5:00 pm and 5:00 – 7:15 pm
The morning Shift Lead is a hearty, energetic person, who will be on the go a lot in this physically demanding role. They will open up the food bank areas, set up signs and tables for the day, orient new volunteers, and make sure the volunteer crew is assigned their tasks. Leads will ensure that all volunteers are washing their hands and taking their temperatures upon arrival. Leads will make sure shelves and freezers are getting stocked. They will monitor that day’s delivery and pick up orders for accuracy and completion. They will help to receive truck deliveries and donations. Lastly, the morning Shift Lead will communicate with the afternoon Shift Leader or staff at the end of shift.
-Minimum Age: 18

On-Site Training Provided
Food Bank Volunteers
The afternoon volunteer will assist participants in the food bank. The volunteer may fill a variety of roles: greeting participants and weighing the cart as they exit the food bank, handing out products from the freezer, handing out personal care products, stocking shelves, and taking in donations.
-Minimum Age – 15 without adult
-Ability and willingness to be physically active and able to do moderate to heavy lifting. Interest in service to people of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. Patience, compassion and excellent customer service skills. Spanish language skills are an asset.
Shifts: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:30 – 2:15 pm and 2:15 – 5:00 pm. Tuesday and Thursday: 11:30 – 2:15 pm, 2:15 – 5:00 pm and 5:00 – 7:15 pm
On-Site Training Provided
The morning volunteer will stock shelves, take in donations, and unload deliveries. Other tasks may include fulfilling home delivery and grocery pick-up orders, preparing produce, organizing coolers and freezers, and other tasks requested by the shift leader or staff.
