1920s + 1930s: HELPING FAMILIES RECOVER FROM THE DEPRESSION

At the height of the Great Depression in 1932, 25% of Boulder County residents relied on some form of relief aid. The demand for help was high, but thanks to strong community support and collaborative partnerships, EFAA was able to continue to help families.

In 1933, EFAA worked with other local organizations, including the schools and PTA, to feed “undernourished children.” The collective partnership, including EFAA, provided hot lunches at local schools because the number of children in need had increased at such an alarming rate. Milk jugs were also placed at local businesses around town to collect money to buy milk for growing children.
